If you’re someone who drives a car, you’ve probably experienced the annoying fog that can build up inside. Whether you live in a constantly hot and humid climate, a super cold climate, or a seasonal climate like us here in Michigan, fog can be a regular annoyance! What the heck causes it, and how can we prevent it?
What Causes Foggy Windows?
Moisture and temperature are the primary culprits of foggy windows. On a cold day, any warm moisture in the air inside your car — from the melting snow on your boots to passengers breathing — condenses when it comes into contact with the cold glass. On a humid day, the same reaction can happen between the warm air outside and your glass that has been cooled by the A/C. Either way, this condensation is what gives your windows that dreaded foggy appearance!
How Can I Stop My Windows from Fogging Up?
Make Adjustments
Now that you know what is causing the fog, there are a few options to stop it from happening. The first, of course, is to simply adjust the air. When it’s cold, don’t warm up your car, and when it’s hot, crack the windows instead of running the A/C. Who doesn’t love sweating on their way to work???
The closer the temperature is inside and outside the car, the less chance there is that condensation and fog will occur.
Turn Off Air Circulation
Since temperature isn’t the only factor in condensation, another option to stop fog on your windows is to toggle the air recirculation option. You can do this by pressing the button with a curved arrow inside a car emblem. This button tells your vehicle to either pull fresh air from outside or to recycle the air that is already inside.
Since we often don’t know the humidity levels of the air around us, experimenting with air circulation can be a quick fix to raise or lower the moisture content inside the vehicle. Turn it on or off and see if the fog goes away!
The WORST Way to Stop Fog
If you’re a busy bee like us here at #NMHQ, you’ve probably had a few of those days where you just didn’t have time to wait for your windshield to defrost or defog. In those moments, using a random piece of paper towel from the floor or the corner of your sleeve might seem like a great idea.
Just wipe the fog off and you’re good to go, right? Wrong! This will only get rid of the fog for a few minutes, and will leave your glass streaky and probably a little dirty too.
The BEST Way to Stop Fog – Treat Your Glass
Let’s face it – most of us aren’t meteorologists and would rather not play a game of “what will this knob do for my fog today” every time we get in the car. Fortunately, there’s an easy-to-use solution available to stop fog, thanks to Nano Magic’s Anti Fog Spray and cloths!
Simply clean your windshield and treat it with one of our anti fog products (this will only take a few minutes unless you drive a bus!) We’ve spent years developing a nanotech-powered solution that literally makes fog invisible to the human eye, giving you crystal clear vision!
Clear Vision is Safe Vision
Trying to see beyond fogged-up windows can be more than just frustrating – it can be dangerous too! By using these strategies and always having an anti-fog spray for cars on hand, you can improve your driving safety no matter what the weather is like.
